Intimate Bridal Shower Brunch Recap

I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 weeks already since my closest gals, and family threw me the sweetest surprise bridal shower! I was so blessed and in so much shock that I was able to have such an intimate setting with them all, especially after an unpredictable year. I truly thought we were going to skip a bridal shower, and bachelorette party since I heard no talk about it. I was starting to accept the fact due to Covid, I had to be OK with that.

A few weeks before the bridal shower, my mom had told me she was scheduling an appointment for me to get my wedding dress altered. She mentioned that herself, my sister, and I would go out to brunch beforehand, and make it a girl’s day.

On the morning of Saturday, March 6th, I felt like it was Christmas morning since I would finally get to try on my wedding dress again for alterations.

My mom picked me up around 10:30 in the morning, and we drove out to the cafe where we planned to meet my sister for brunch. As soon as we walked back to where my sister was sitting, I looked to the direction in which she was looking, and saw my other 2 bridesmaids sitting at a table together! My MOH lives in New Jersey, so it was a shock to see her back home! It felt like my jaw had dropped, and that’s when I noticed right before me was a gorgeous easel sign that had “Welcome To Serena’s Bridal Shower” written on it.

As soon as it registered in my head what was going on, I instantly looked to my right, and saw my sister in-law, as well as Nick’s mom! I literally had to gasp at the fact Nick’s mother was there, because she lives 6 hours away in Erie, PA. She was the person I was the most shocked to see since I couldn’t believe she came all this way for me.

LOCATION:

My bridal shower was held Saturday, March 6th at 11:00am-1:30pm at Cloud Nine Cafe in Reading, Pennsylvania. This is the perfect little brunch/coffee shop to come relax, hang out, and enjoy some delicious breakfast! I really love the bistro tables throughout. Each day they offer new breakfast, and lunch specials, and are open until 2pm.

FOOD/DRINKS:

We had yogurt and granola bowls brought to us to start us off. They were so delicious as Cloud Nine makes their own granola.

For the main dish, there was an arrangement of “create your own” mimosas, as well as breakfast croissant sandwiches. Yum!

For dessert, cupcakes were catered from Shady Maple bakery. They did such a good job using the colors from the theme of my wedding, and adding pretty edible glitter!

ACTIVITIES:

Icebreakers: We all sat around and talked for about the first 45 minutes or so getting to know each other, and just catching up. It was a great way to get the party going smoothly, and have everyone open up.

Advice cards: These were more of a party favor for Nick and I, but on the main table, guests were invited to leave me marriage advice, on pre-made advice cards and my mom collected them all and gave them to me at the end to take home and read. I really loved this idea and thought it was so sweet. Nick and I enjoyed reading them.

How Many Kisses In The Jar: A jar was filled to the top with Hershey Kisses, and whoever was the closest guesser to how many kisses were in the jar, won a prize!

What’s In Your Bag?:  Each girl gets a points/tally card with things they can have in their bag, and adds up their numbers based upon what is currently in their bag. The girl who has the most points won a prize. That was me!

Who Knows The Bride Best: This was a fun game where there was pre-made questions the host of the party asked everyone attending, and everyone had to write down an answer. Once the host asked me the question, I would hold up which answer was correct, and whoever got it right would get a point!

PARTY FAVORS:

Each girl received a mini bottle of Barefoot wine, as well as a shower bomb from a local boutique, Muddy Creek Soap. My maid of honor decorated the mini bottles perfectly with a little note attached that says “sip, sip, hooray!”.

I feel as though I couldn’t have asked for a better day that made me feel more special than my friends and family did. Every detail was perfectly planned, and I love all the thought they went into this! I am so lucky to have these girls to create such a memorable day for me. I can’t believe the wedding is only 11 weeks away at this point! Thank you all so much for reading!
